DAVID CASTILLO is a New Orleans-native performing artist who delivers "impassioned," (LA Times) "beautifully sung and confidently acted" (Opera News) performances in the US and Europe. Castillo collaborates on and creates many cutting edge projects in music and theatre. He served as a soloist with the LA Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra, the New Orleans Opera, the LA Opera, the LA Master Chorale, The Industry, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Le Salon de Musiques, Long Beach Opera, the Horizon Music Group, wildUP, Mojacar Flamenco, and Off-Broadway. He collaborated with Conductors Franz Welser-Möst, Grant Gershon, Reimbert de Leeus, Christopher Rountree, Josep Caballé-Domenech, Douglas Kinney Frost, and Brent McMunn and Directors Yuval Sharon, James Darrah, Ken Cazan, Ed Berkeley, Brad Dalton, and Andreas Mitisek. A frequent interpreter of new music, he originated world premieres of Louis Andriessen's Theatre of the World, Andrew McIntosh and Melinda Rice's Bonnie and Clyde, Shawn Kirchner's Songs of Ascent, Jeffrey Parola's infinite self, Logan Skelton's Letters to Santa, Rand Steiger's NIMBUS, and David Rosenboom's HOPSCOTCH. He made his European Debut at La Mairie du 3e arrondissement de Paris with pianist Francois Chouchan performing Schubert's Winterreise, a work they previously performed in Los Angeles and New Orleans. David is the Founder and Creative Director of Jukebox Castle, a company thats harvests productions based on the immediate influence of music+food. He graduated with Honors both from the University of Southern California and from Loyola University New Orleans.
